UKAS Case Study: RDB

We are very proud to have been the first UK company in social care to achieve UKAS accreditation in 2015, which is specifically for inspecting Adult Social Care Providers, in the Residential Care Home sector.  Each year we are externally validated by UKAS to maintain our accreditation and the benefits of accredited inspection are detailed in this case study from UKAS:

RDB Star Rating is an independent inspection company established specifically for the Care Sector to give transparency and confidence to the public and its customers.  The RDB Scheme is supported by the Care Sector.  RDB is a UK-based inspection body who achieved UKAS accreditation for inspections of residential care homes, in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012.

RDB’s focus has been to develop an independent assessment system specifically for the Care Sector, with the aim of identifying and promoting ‘quality’ providers to the public and drive up standards.  Based on the principles of ‘best practice’ benchmarking, this assessment focusses on the outcomes of care, so providing a real measure of the quality of life for residents.

Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England, commented that RDB has been at the forefront of measuring quality in residential care services for many years.  Accreditation by UKAS gives the general public and care providers an independently accredited view of quality.  At a time when the quality of care services is constantly being scrutinised, RDB Star Rating, provides an independently accredited and universally acclaimed mark of quality.

RDB’s UKAS accreditation provides confidence in both the quality of the inspection services it provides, and the quality of care offered by the residential care homes it inspects.

Care providers and residential care homes that meet these stringent criteria demonstrate compliance with the rigours of this international standard, which in turn provides assurance and confidence to quality providers, the public and care providers, patients and residents.
